Many people have asked me how to add a hit counter to their blogs. The fastest way I know is the following:
1. Go to blogspothitcounter (see link 1 in my bio box)
2. Select Website Counter from the pull down menu on the left
3. Select a color of the hit counter you would like
4. enter in a username and email address you want to use
5. for url, enter the address of your blogger blog
6. finish the rest of the sign up and click generate Counter
7. Copy the generated code
8. log into your blogger.om account, and go to settings
9. click on template
10. click on edit html
11. scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for:
12. create a blank line under that code by putting your mouse at the end of
13. past the code into the window
14. look for the & symbol in the code you just pasted
15. directly to the right of that & symbol type the following exactly (without the : ): amp;
16. look for the code:
and change it to:
17. save.
18. You will now see your hit counter.
You can use these same set of steps to add a hit counter to the bottom of yoru blogger.com blog. just be sure the code follows well formed xml standards. if you don't know what this means, just use my instructions and you will be all set.
The great thing about the blogspothitcounter.com counter is that you can run all kinds of reports across any period of time you'd like. You can track which search engines and keywords people are using to find your site. You can also track other websites who are referring people to your blog.
